Healthy Snacking
Snacks are called so for a reason; they are designed to function like a light meal – something that satisfies your hunger and boosts your energy. There’s nothing wrong with snacking – you just need to make it count and you need to think about the way you snack.
Making smart snack choices is all about filling the nutritional gaps in your day – haven’t had any fruit yet? Snack on some. Haven’t had enough dairy? Enjoy some VEGEMITE spread with cheese on crackers. Need to up your fibre intake? Put some VEGEMITE spread on wholegrain bread.
Making a smart snack choice is about recognising when you’re body is craving some nourishment or energy and getting your timing right. Snack a couple of hours before lunch, or dinner, and you’ll find yourself without hunger pangs, with more energy and without that overstuffed feeling you only get from eating too much during one meal.
Snack right, and feel better.
